 Vazhaipoo Usili Vazhaipoo usili is basically a South Indian dish, especially from Tamil Nadu. The word usili means broken or crumbled. There are so many Usili dishes here in Tamil Nadu. So, today I am going to show you the very tasty and nutrient-rich recipe of Vazhaipoo Usili. Also, the recipe is a good combination for gravies, curd rice, and rasam rice. And also, vazhaipoo (banana flower or banana blossom) was a good source of iron, calcium, fiber, potassium, and vitamins A, B, and E. So, I'll give step-by-step instructions in the below post. Sambar Powder

 Sambar Powder




Sambar powder is a flavourful powder popular in southern India. It adds a nice flavour and taste to the sambar. Sambar powder was made by using dals and some spices.


Ingredients:

  • Dry chillies             - 1 1/3 cup / 100g
  • Coriander seeds      - 1 1/3 cup / 100g
  • Toor dal                  - 4 tbsp / 20g
  • Bengal gram dal     - 4 tbsp / 20g
  • Urad dal                 - 4 tbsp / 20g
  • Raw rice                 - 4 tbsp / 20g
  • Cumin seeds            - 2 tbsp / 10g
  • Fenugreek seeds      - 2 tbsp / 10g
  • Turmeric powder    - 1 tsp / 4g
  • Asafoetida / Hing   - 1 tsp / 4g



Instructions:

  • Warm up a kadai and add dry chilies, coriander seeds, Bengal gram dal, toor dal, urad dal, raw rice, cumin seeds, and fenugreek seeds. Sauté everything separately and keep everything cool.

  • Transfer everything to the mixer jar and add turmeric powder and asafoetida. and then grind everything into a fine powder.

  • After that, cool down the sambar powder and transfer it to the airtight container.

  • Finally, the sambar powder is ready to be used to enhance the flavour and taste of your sambar.
