 Vazhaipoo Usili Vazhaipoo usili is basically a South Indian dish, especially from Tamil Nadu. The word usili means broken or crumbled. There are so many Usili dishes here in Tamil Nadu. So, today I am going to show you the very tasty and nutrient-rich recipe of Vazhaipoo Usili. Also, the recipe is a good combination for gravies, curd rice, and rasam rice. And also, vazhaipoo (banana flower or banana blossom) was a good source of iron, calcium, fiber, potassium, and vitamins A, B, and E. So, I'll give step-by-step instructions in the below post. Today I'm going to share a quick and easy recipe for potato pea gravy. that's made by potatoes, peas, onions, tomatoes, and spices. Potato-pea gravy is the best side dish for chapathi, jeera rice, idly, and dosa. so I'll give the instructions with a photo in the below blog.


Ingredients:

  • Potatoes                           - 2 small (boiled and smashed)
  • peas                                - 50 g (boiled)
  • Onion                              - 2 small (finely chopped)
  • Tomato                             - 2small (finely chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste            - 1 tsp
  • Green chilli                       - 2nos (slit)
  • Curry leaves                     - handful
  • Kashmiri chilli powder       - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder               - 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds                  - 1 tsp
  • cumin                              - 1 tsp
  • Oil                                  - 3 tbsp
  • Salt                                 - as per taste
  • Water                              - 1/4 glass

Instructions:

  • Heat a kadai, add oil, and once the oil gets hot, add mustard seeds, cumin, curry leaves and green chillies.

  • Then add onion, tomatoes,ginger garlic paste,  salt, and saute for 3 minutes.

  • After that, add the mashed potatoes, boiled peas, chilli powder, turmeric powder, 1/4 cup of water, and cover with a lid. Then cook for 3 minutes.
  • And serve with chapathi, idly, dosa, or jeera rice.
